The Opticron Oregon WA 8×40 binoculars are an excellent choice for first-time users or those looking for quality optics at an affordable price. Designed with a traditional Porro prism system, they deliver a rich, 3D viewing experience that stands out from typical roof prism models. Ideal for general outdoor use and binocular astronomy, they balance power, clarity, and ease of use.
Optical Performance
Featuring BAK4 fully multi-coated prisms and 40mm objective lenses, these binoculars offer bright, high-contrast images with great detail—even in low-light conditions. With 8x magnification and a wide 8.2° field of view, they provide excellent coverage and clarity, particularly suited to open landscapes or starry skies. The minimum focus distance of 6 metres allows for close-up observation when needed.
Comfort and Usability
Designed with long eye relief and fold-down rubber eyecups, the Oregon WA 8×40 is comfortable for both spectacle and non-spectacle wearers. The wide central focusing wheel ensures quick, smooth adjustments, while the right-eye dioptre setting helps customise focus to your vision. A single hinge design allows for easy adjustment of the inter-pupillary distance.
Build and Design
Constructed from a lightweight aluminium alloy and partially armoured with NBR rubber, these binoculars are both durable and easy to handle. Though not waterproof or nitrogen-filled, the robust body offers solid protection during regular outdoor use. The inclusion of a tripod adapter socket also means they can be mounted for steady, extended viewing sessions.
Included Accessories
Supplied with a soft carry case, wide nylon neck strap, rainguard, and rubber objective lens covers, the Oregon WA 8×40 is ready for use straight out of the box.
